SLATE RIVER FARM

I formed Slate River Farm Inc. at the age of 17. It would be the vehicle through which I would manage my 10 year equestrian career. Within three years of starting, I had begun to compete at the highest levels of the sport. One of the key elements to my success were the wonderful trainers and mentors I worked with:

Peter Leone – Peter was an Olympic team silver medalist 1996.  He works out of Lionshare Farm in Greenwich, Connecticut, and has represented the US on many occasions, winning some of the world’s most prestigious competitions.
Lauren Hough – Lauren was an Olympic team member in 2000. She entered the Grand Prix circuit at the age of 15, and made the Olympic Team at 22. A very tenacious equestrian, Lauren continues to earn success on the United State Equestrian team.
Henk Noreen – Henk is a world renowned Olympic Coach. Based in Belgium, Henk has trained many teams successfully including the Spanish, Dutch, Italian and Swedish Equestrian teams. Henk is renowned for his coaching abilities both with teams and individuals. His work has resulted in many international successes, championships and Olympic medals.
Nancy Salzman – Nancy, an expert in Human Potential, has had over 30 years of intensive study and practice in the field of human empowerment. She has worked with individuals, CEOs, and world leaders, helping them to reach their life’s goals.
Keith Raniere – Keith is a mathematician, physicist, philosopher and entrepreneur. He has developed many patent-pending technologies for the advancement of humanity. Raniere’s work has created innovative methodologies in music, athletics, business and expression, to name but a few, all designed to help people reach new heights in their respective discipline.

I spent over three years living in Holland, at Stal Nooren, and in Germany where I trained with renowned equestrian Ludger Beerbaum. While in Europe I competed internationally both as an individual and as a United States team member. At the height of my career I was ranked 12th in the United States and 80th in the world.

Looking back on the years I spent riding – I feel fortunate to have worked with, and been inspired by, so many wonderful athletes and trainers. I was quite shy during those years, but I remember having a feeling of awe towards many of my fellow competitors. I constantly struggled with how to be the best rider, and also with how to be the best partner and friend to my horses. It’s funny, at the time I felt as though I knew a lot, but looking back I think I was really a novice in so many ways! I did learn a tremendous amount though, and carry many of the skills I learned riding with me today. My equestrian career held invaluable experiences for which I am ever grateful.
